3 movie reviews

So I’ve seen three movies recently that I’ve really liked. Two of them are total chick flicks and all three are kind of sappy.

The first is ‘The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold.’ When I went to Boston for work 2 weeks ago, I walked into my hotel room and I found it on ABC Family as I flipped the channels. Many of you may be aware of my deep reverance for the original flick that spawned this sequel, so I must write about it. The basic story is that Doug and Kate (from the first movie) have a daughter who also turns out to be a talented Olympic figure skater.

Obvious plot holes aside (How do two people who met in 1992 have an 18-year old daughter in 2006? Methinks Kate Mosely has some ‘splaining to do), this movies is Terrible. There is one shining part of the movie that I quite enjoyed, however:

You are looking at the lovely Christy Carlson Romano, better known as Jackie Dorsey. What this movie lacked in plot, and general goodness, it more than made up for with Christy’s general goodness.

The next movie I saw is ’13 going on 30′ starring Jennifer Garner. This movie was kind of overly sappy at times and the whole concept is kind of creepy. If you’ve seen the movie, I’ll explain what I mean by that. In general, I thought it was worth watching.

Finally, I saw ‘For Love of the Game’ a 1999 baseball movie where Kevin Costner plays an over-the-hill ballplayer reminiscing on life. This movie was a bit over the top with its drama and the main character’s irrationality, but it was a great baseball story, and I can always go for that — especially 3 days before baseball season is to begin.
