What a day to be an Illini fan
So we replaced Ron Turner with ex-Florida head coach Ron Zook. Now some might be upset with this development, but lets look at the facts: Turner led us to a 3-8 record in a Big Ten that wasn’t particularly tough. Zook led the Gators to a 7-4 record in an SEC that had top 10 teams Georgia and Auburn (I’m not sure if Florida actually played either, but needless to say, its was tougher than the Big Ten).
In even bigger news, the Illini basketball teams is now the #1 team in the country in the AP and Coaches poll. Frankly there’s a small group of deserving schools and I think the Illini have shown, on the court, that they are deserving. They’ve routed two ranked teams already, one on a neutral court. They’ve also beaten a tough physical Arkansas team in what was basically a semi-home game for the Razorbacks.
