Canadian News

Yesterday I tuned my TV to CBC to watch the Red Wings game since I don’t get the Versus network. It turns out the game wasn’t on, but this post isn’t about that.

I hadn’t bothered to change the channel since last night, so I watched the Windsor, Canada news while I cleaned my apartment this evening. Anyways, they had a story about the swine flu but what really impressed me was the end of the story. When they cut back to the anchor, she finished the story with this (I’m paraphrasing): Read the rest of this entry →

Busted!!!

After every Toastmaster’s meeting we all head to 220’s, which is probably the most low-key bar in Birmingham, MI.  For any non-Michigander readers, let me translate:  It’s still way nicer than most of the bars where I would typically spend my time. Read the rest of this entry →

My Horrible Confession

I was working on a pretty time-sensitive customer project last October when I didn’t come home from work until 8:30 one night.

Even though I wanted to take my mind off everything for a while, it was too late to go to Tae Kwon Do, and it was too late to convince anyone to go out that night.  I ended up ordering a pizza and staying in, and that’s when I discovered a reality show on truTV that followed repossession agents as they repossessed vehicles for banks and other lien-holders.  The next thing I knew, it was 11:30 at night, and I had to go to bed. Old Poetry

I wanted to share some poetry I wrote a long time ago. I was living in St. Louis, rooming with Tom and Anshul, at the time. Tom and I were at Tom’s coworker’s apartment and she had a set of those kitchen magnet poetry magnets. Where’s the Buzz? Oh wait, here it is.

I was all set to write a blog entry about how the Final Four is in the Detroit and nobody is paying attention.

Four years ago, I was living in Saint Louis when they hosted the Final Four and the ‘March to the Arch’ was a huge source of conversation throughout the winter and early spring in St. Louis.

Meanwhile this year I was watching basketball on Saturday when I suddenly remembered that the Final Four was actually in Detroit this year.  Going into last weekend, the Final Four had generated almost no press in Detroit. Read the rest of this entry →

My Real Review of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’

In case you didn’t realize, my review from this morning was a joke.

I finally saw Slumdog Millionaire on Saturday and after all I’d heard about it, it was finally nice to actually form my own opinions on the movie. Read the rest of this entry →

The upstairs apartment

Last winter, I got sick of living in suburbia and I decided to relocate to downtown Birmingham, MI.  I discovered Birmingham when I joined a local Toastmasters’ club that met there.  Anyways, I found an apartment that was the first floor of a two-story building.  When I signed my lease, Pat, the apartment manager told me that I’d love meeting the couple upstairs, Adam and Nicole.
